Considered By Design

As a product based business, being sustainable and ethical has never been of more importance and it is something that has held me back in recent years from fully committing to creating new work.

I needed to somehow work out how I could fulfil that creative need to ‘make’, along with the desire to not unduly cause any harm to the planet or the people in it or add yet more stuff into the world.

When lockdown came in March, I stepped back and really looked into what the future held for Emma Calvert jewellery, how could I realign my business with my values, of ultimately having a kind business.

Every detail of my work and how I work is considered. I want to be a fully sustainable design brand, creating products with kindness and integrity that have the smallest impact possible on the environment and world around us. To do this, I have been working hard on refining the processes, suppliers and materials I use.

My pledge:

  • My aim is to use 100% recycled silver and the majority of my textiles (over 75%) being vintage, dead-stock or recycled materials.

  • Packaging and postage boxes will be plastic-free and made from recycled/eco-friendly materials, removing the foam fillers and introducing a plastic-free liner.

  • Working towards a circular model, so all my pieces can be be refreshed, recycled, reloved or reused in some way.

  • Off-setting our emissions to make the brand carbon neutral

  • All suppliers and materials to be fully traceable
